I have been so busy, I haven't had time to write. I went to the Houston Street Fair in San Antonio, Texas and my picture was even in the paper! I feel so FAMOUS now. BookFairy.JPG I had a great time and met a lot of readers. I met some really neat children's writers from the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). They had some children's authors there with their very cool books, plus they were making magic books. I was back at the Texas Book Festival on October 28. I got to meet so many wonderful entertainers like the Storybook Theater (they did a great story about the City Mouse and the Country Mouse - a Classic!). Mr. Johnny and Sharon were there too, I love their music and fun games, go to Mr. Johnny.com for more info about his great program. Plus, I got to meet Laura Freeman who is a great musician and sang a song about PURPLE!! She even has a CD with a song for each different color. It was so much fun. AND I met some of my friends had I met before. One particular little girl, I had met at her birthday party and she was there!! I love it when friends come and say hello.I hope to see you soon. I'm going to be visiting Park Village Elementary School in San Antonio this week and in a few weeks, I'm going to MacArthur Park Church of Christ for their Tiny Tots program.I'm having tons of fun. I got a lot of emails from new friends who just found my website. Thanks for writing, I'll be in touch soon. Happy Reading!
I had so much fun this past weekend. I spent a couple of hours with a wonderful group of Girl Scouts. They invited me to their reading event!! How could I say no? So, I went and sprinkled my dust everywhere and on everyone so we would have a great day reading. We read some wonderful books, recipes, karaoke, and even crafts (bookmarks and door hangers.) Each person even made their own book about the day and all the fun we had. I liked it so much, I'm going to do it again on October 29 and November 4. I hope some of you can make it. I would love to meet you.
Hello and welcome to my blog. I am finally figuring out some of this 21st century stuff. I hope to give you updates on my activities and school visits through my blog. I am having a good summer. With so MANY summer reading programs, I am staying very busy sprinkling readers. I've also had a great time finding, reading, and sprinkling books so you will have great ones to read. The books I have read lately are:The Supernaturalist by Eoin Colfer (he is the author of the Artemis Fowl series)Science Verse by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith (it has a really cool CD with the authors reading the book. They are really funny!)More Optical Illusions by Al Seckel. This is a really cool book with lots of optical illusions in it. What is really neat is there is a section that tells you why we see the illusions the way we do. America's Beautiful Quilts by Zaro Weil. I bought this book for a friend who likes to quilt. It has pictures with all different kinds of quilts and tells you all about them.On Morning Wings by Reeve Lindbergh. A beautiful picture book.MY READING CHALLENGE: I decided to give you a reading challenge every time I blog. See if you can read this book and become really good at it: Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss. The book is "A Tongue Twister for Super Children" and in the front it says, "Take it SLOWLY. This book is DANGEROUS!" It is lots of fun to read and even if you get one part of the book where you can say it fast, you will really impress your friends. I LOVE reading this book out loud when I go visit kids. It really is fun (and not too dangerous - but your tongue might get numb!)Have a great day. Happy Reading!Jillian, The Book Fairy
