Hello to the 4th and 5th grade classes who won the STAR BEHAVIOR awards for the library. I had a great time today telling you my story, EVEN whe we were interuppted by the FIRE DRILL. I can honestly say that is the FIRST time I have ever been interrupted by a Fire Drill.
(Usually it is a Kindergartener who is very excited!) I hope you like Mrs. Biddlebox (by Linda Smith, Illustrated by Marla Frazee)
Your job now, is to make sure you don't fail school, make sure you keep reading, and TRY to read FOX in SOCKS as well as I can read it.
Have a great holiday break. I hope to see you again sometime. And to the student who asked if I could make myself small again: you should see me jumping around on the keyboard right now while I type this up! If find some really good books, you'll know I was there, even if you don't see me. Just look for the fairy dust! ![]()

Wow, Sinclair. I had lots of fun reading at your school. I can tell you have lots of good readers because you love books! I loved reading books from your book fair. It was fun to meet all of the grandparents and parents who made it to eat lunch with you. I'm glad we got to take pictures, you will have some very special memories from getting to do that. You have some really great families.
Wasn't Dogs Don't Brush Their Teeth, by Diane deGroat and Shelley Rotner, hilarious? You guys were laughing so hard, I started laughing too and could hardly read the book!
I have to honestly say I have never seen a dog sitting on a toilet!!
With the First Graders, I also got to read Winter is the Warmest Season by Lauren Stringer. It was a beautiful book with lots of great pictures. I bet some of you who love art decide to grow up and draw pictures and write books like hers.
You guys have some really zooming, fast, strong, "MONSTER TRUCK BRAINS"! Keep up the great work and remember you can NEVER get worse at reading, you can only get better and better. Happy Reading! ![]()

Hello, there all you great readers at Briscoe. I really enjoyed meeting all the first graders before they left for their field trip to the Magic Theater. Your day was just full of magic, wasn't it?
I had a great time with the Kindergarteners too. We read a book where a mom calls her kid
Stinky FACE!! Really. It's one of my favorite books, I Love You Stinky Face by Lisa McCort and illustrated by Cyd Moore. We had a lot of fun being dinosaurs, alligators, gorillas and even a cyclops.
Second grade was great helping me do tongue twisters from Dr. Seuss Fox in Socks, and reading Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst. You did a great job.
I hope you all keep up your reading. Remember, now you have some of my magical fairy dust, so you will always have great books to read! ![]()

Hello to all the wonderful readers at Bonham. I was so excited to meet you and sprinkle my fairy dust in your library and all over your book fair. Now you'll have LOTS of good books to read. You have a great library and a great librarian. I had a lot of fun last night. I met your principal and sprinkled her with my fairy dust. She was the first one to get one of my bookmarks. You know, principals have to do a lot of reading.
I had fun meeting everyone who went to the book fair. I also got to meet a lot of very talented 5th graders. They had a great program where they sang and got to dance to Turkey in the Straw.
I hope all of you will keep working on your reading. Reading is like magic: you can NEVER get worse at it. It doesn't matter how much you read, or what you read, or how you read, or when you read. ANYTIME you read, you become a better reader!
Have a great day, I hope to visit your school again. ![]()

Hey there Hatchett readers! I had a great time with all the AR readers who met their goals. I am super proud of anyone who sets a goal and then meets it! Remember you can read for fun and not just for AR points. When it comes to reading, ANY kind of reading counts. It might be a cereal box, or magazines, or sunday comics, or the internet. The more you read the better chance you have of having a super fast, monster truck brain. We don't want any coach potato brains
.
Keep up all your hard work. I hope every one of you make your AR goals next time and get some of your friends excited about reading too. Now you have tons of Book Fairy magic all over your library to make sure you have lots of good books to read. Plus, I'm sure the magic will rub off onto all the other kids at Hatchett too.
Happy Reading!

Wow, did we have fun. There were lots of kids, parents, and teachers at the Reading night. I haven't seen that many kids take AR tests so fast in a long time! We had incredible hot dogs, Monkey books, book marks, 5th Grade poetry books, tongue twister experts, and so much more. There are a lot of super readers at Alkek and now they have tons of my magical Fairy Dust to make their library even better!
Thanks for such a great evening, Alkek. I had fun. Keep up all the great reading! Remember, reading is one thing you never fail at. No matter where you are with your reading, you can only get better every time you read. It's just like magic. ![]()

Wow, I am finding some spectacular readers everywhere I go. Today, I heard about some super readers at Hatchett Elementary in the Northside ISD in San Antonio, Texas. I may just have to fly by there and see about those kids. Sounds like they really have some great stuff happening.
You know, the best thing about reading is that no matter if you are just starting out or you've been reading for years, you can only get better! No one ever gets worse when they read, its one of those magical things about reading.
See ya soon.
