Briscoe Academy Family Literacy Night!!

Posted on February 8, 2012 at 8:00 AM Comments comments (0)

Wow, I am sooooo excited about getting to visit Briscoe Academy on February 15 .  They have the most awesome Family Literacy Night planned and I've been invited to attend!  I can't wait to meet all of you there!!

I found out there will be an incredible Book Fair, plus the teachers have planned some super fun activities:  you'll get to do something fun in your classroom with your parents, then I'll be reading for all the Pre-K to second graders.  You don't want to miss out because I'll be passing out my magical fairy dust to help you be better readers.  Plus I'll be bringing something special for each of you to have.   I even heard there will be another storyteller for the older grades too.  I can tell my fairy dust has been working in your school and library because the Scholastic Van will be there with Clifford the Big Red Dog, you can meet him, do some activities and even get a FREE BOOK!  How cool is that????  ;)

I BETTER see everyone there,  I want to meet as many of the amazing kids at the amazing Briscoe Academy as I can!!  Remember to tell your parents and plan on staying after school Wednesday, February 15.  You don't want to miss it!

Happy Reading!

I will be flying into the San Antonio Children's Museum very soon.  On Saturday, February 11, 2012, I'll be leading their Valentine storytelling time from 12:00 to 1:00.  Then later in the spring we'll be having more fun there on Saturday,  April 7, 2012.  We will be celebrating National Libarary Week!  What better time than to read some of our favorite library books?!

I hope all my friends will come and visit me there.  We'll have a great time.

Happy Reading,

Happy Birthday Mathilda!

Mathilda, thanks so much for inviting me to your birthday party.  I had a great time.  I loved your witch costume and all your friends had great costumes too.  Didn't you love Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum?  It is such a fun book to read!  I love all the crazy words, AND the bubble gum mess.

I hope you enjoy reading Princess Matilda (even if her name isn't spelled like yours!).  She was really great.  I hope you don't have to kiss any frogs like she did!

Have a wonderful day.

San Antonio Childrens Museum Storytime

Posted on August 23, 2011 at 9:50 PM Comments comments (0)

I had a great time meeting all the kids who were at the San Antonio Childrens Museum last Saturday.  It was a great "back to school" celebration.  The last day of freedom for some of us. I hope you liked "Miss Bindergarten gets Ready for Kindergarten"  by Joseph Slate and illustrated by Ashley Wolff and "Crazy Hair Day" by Barry Salzburg.  A few of us read "Wild About Books" by Judy Sierra and illustrated by Marc Brown.  If you like animals, you will love that book, plus it explains why you can NEVER find some of the animals at the zoo!

I hope everyone is enjoying a great back to school experience.

Elolf Elementary Readers are GREAT!

Hello to all my new friends at Elolf Elemetary school. :)  I had a great time with all the 1st graders and Ms. McConnell's class.  I hope you keep your promise to read over the summer break.  I've been working extra hard to find great books at the library for you to read.  Now you have some of my magic, so there are no excuses!

I hope you liked the books we readin 1st grade: "Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum" by Lisa Wheeler and "Alice the Fairy" by David Shannon.  They are both really fun books, and you did a great job helping me read "Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum".  Make sure you don't step in any gum, you never know what might happen!  Ms. McConnell's class read "Sheep in a Shop" by Nancy Shaw, it is a fun book too.

I hope you have fun your last few days of school and you have a great summer.  Remember, no potato brains!!  I want you to work on your super fast, super strong monster truck brain, so you are ready when you come back to school.

Happy Reading!

Vogel Elementary ROCKS!!

Hey guys, as promised I'm writing about the great day we had today at your school.  Thanks so much for being great listeners.

Kinder through 2nd graders really like Bubble Gum!!  I hope you don't have a terrible, horrible, no good very bad day for the rest of the school year. (Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum by Lisa Wheeler and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst were the books we read.)

3rd through 5th was so tired from their field day, I thought they would go to sleep on me!  :D But they didn't.  We had a lot of fun doing tongue twisters from Dr. Seuss' Fox in Socks, and reading "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs" by A. Wolf (Jon Scieszka).

Remember to work on getting a super strong, super fast monster truck brain over the summer.  NO POTATO BRAINS!!!!

See you next year and happy reading.

Thanks to my Western Hills Church of Christ friends.

Once upon a time there was a church who was full of beautiful Princesses.  They all were daughters of the one true King.  The best part is that anyone who wants to be in his family will be adopted and become a Princess (or Prince) too....Thanks so much to all you wonderful ladies (both young and old!) at the Western Hills church for the invitation to your "Once Upon a Time" Tea.  I had such a wonderful time and  I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Never forget all the talents and abilities the King has bestowed upon you. Use them well to further His excellant Kingdom!  I don't know about you, but I am personally glad that I don't have to wear a paper bag!

God bless,

The Book Fairy
